David Marriner is the world’s worst employee, no qualms about it – he thrives on it! David refuses to be bound by convention and routine. A fierce advocate of independent contracting, David has spent more than two decades protecting the rights of independent contractors and businesses that engage their services.
Fuelled by his passion for innovation and his conviction to leverage cutting edge technology to deliver services, David is proud to have founded Certica®, Australia’s leading contractor services consultancy business.

Chief Operations Officer
Rebecca started out her career in recruitment and quickly spotted a gap in the market as she began observing more people moving towards contracting. People wanted their freedom within the workforce but had no idea how to equip themselves when it came to the business and administration side of things. She took her expertise gained as an accountant and her strategic business mind, combined the two and Certica was born.
Rebecca is a powerhouse when it comes to ensuring a fair and just workplace environment for her clients as well as her own staff and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
Chief Executive Officer
From the country town of Bundaberg in Queensland, Tony has built a career of driving sales and profit growth using many homespun yet sage advice given to him by people having a go and running their own family business. By deploying the very practical steps of simply working harder, treating everything as urgent and treating everyone with respect, Tony has been able to get the job done.
After working as a solicitor in private practice, Tony obtained local and international legal and General Counsel experience during the dizzying heights of the first dot.com boom at One.Tel in Europe and JPMorgan. The dot.com bust period was in the safe bosom of RACQ, where Tony learnt what a real and significant impact the corporate culture of an organisation has on workplace performance.
And so it began Tony’s gravitation to the managing and leading of teams, to achieve high performance outcomes for his clients, customers, shareholders, staff and the community at large. Tony has managed staff of up to 600 located throughout Australia and Asia, been responsible for over 1,500 contractors based around Australia, acquired and managed international clients such as Mastercard, Virgin Australia and Mercedes-Benz, and was responsible for achieving annual sales growth of +$400M.
He has been the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Information Officer and Chief Distribution Officer for Allianz Global Assistance, and additionally, with Budget Direct Insurance & 1Cover Travel Insurance.
Tony’s approach to work, is to use lots and lots of data wherever he can find it, but he makes sure that listening and talking to his customers, his staff and the overall market will enable him and the team to get to the root of what makes a business truly great.
Chief Financial Officer
Originally from the Philippines, highly experienced Tax and Accounting Specialist, Grace loves nothing more than to support independent contractors reach their goals.
Grace started out as a bookkeeper over 10 years ago, studied hard and worked her way up the ranks in various organisations until she found herself as Certica’s Chief Financial Officer.
She is driven to ensure her clients receive up-to-the-minute, premium tax and accounting advice, is Member qualified by the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and currently on track to become a Registered Tax Agent (RTA). There’s nothing that gets past Grace!
Business Development Manager
Steph was born and raised in an International Family, attended boarding school in Brisbane and then went on to study Law/Business at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) where, in her last year, she met and worked for Certica’s founders Bec and Dave and never looked back.
Steph became passionate about making a difference to the single Entrepreneur, Mum and Dad operation and large Corporates/Government seeking to improve on efficiencies. She has now been with Certica for 10+ years and believes in it’s vision more and more every day.
She’s in the coal face and regularly deals with business owners, contractors and regulators, with each experience helping her build upon the next. When she’s not supporting start-ups with their insurance, tax and basic business planning, she’s with large Corps or Franchised businesses with 100+ staff, all the while ensuring they are being responsible Corporates and Enterprises.
Steph is an “Entrepreneur’s Best-Friend” and can ensure that dreams become realities through compliance, responsibility and good governance. She’s seen the best and the worst of it, and can tell you hand on heart, that if you are “legitimate, hard-working and honest”, Certica can deliver on their promise.
As you can see from her story, a legitimate partnership with Certica, is a partnership for life.
Senior Relationship and Client Development Manager
Andrea’s spent over a decade in the health cover and education sector both locally and nationally, building and fostering relationships and partnerships that last. She has extensive account and business development experience and a passion for selling quality products.
Andrea is a true leader, focussed on putting her clients first and ensuring their expectations are always met and when she’s not in the office, you’ll find her somewhere outside, being active with her gorgeous border collie and husband. She’s also a big fan of the movies, a self confessed coffee snob and a bit of a foodie too. So the next time you’re in Perth, make sure you hit Andrea up for the best place for coffee, lunch and dinner!
Relationship and Marketing Co-ordinator
Jeska comes from our neighbouring country New Zealand, ask her and she will also say they have the best rugby team in the world. She moved across the ditch to Australia over 6 years ago and we have managed to impress her with our way of life here.
Jeska has a background in recruitment, operations coordination and graphic design. She has a passion for learning about people and their business and building relationships whether that be in Australia or overseas. She is passionate about clients having access to information, as she understands how overwhelming contracting can be to someone who doesn’t know the industry.
When Jeska Isn’t liaising between the Certica Experience team, her clients and the various regulations that ensure responsible contracting practises, you’ll catch her exploring new restaurants and hot spots. So if you want to find some hidden gems in brisbane be sure to ask Jeska!
